University of the District of Columbia (UDC) in Washington hosts March 8 to April 15 an exhibition of photographs devoted to the second Pan-African Festival (PANAF) organized in Algiers in 2009.

This exhibition, which offers a visual journey to the heart of this largest African cultural event is held for the second time in the United States after one in New York in 2010, with the support of the Algerian Ministry of Culture, the Algerian Embassy in Washington, the Algerian Agency for the cultural influence (AARC) and the Institute of Afro-American Affairs of the University of New York.

A selection of fifty pictures, made by Kaouche Mohamed, Charles Martin, Nadir Djamar, Salah Hassan and Deborah Willis, immortalize the vitality and variety of festival events celebrated in Africa, while leading the visitor to this exhibition to take a tour of the architectural heritage of Algiers though the Casbah streets.
