FAF To Choose Among 4 Foreign Coaches To Replace Benchikha

Algerian Football Federation (FAF) is linked with 4 foreign coaches ahead of taking in charge the national squad, after the resign of Coach Abdelhak Benchikha.

In fact, well informed sources revealed that President of the FAF, Mohammed Raouraoua has four “big” names in his list, namely Bosnian Vahid Halilhodzic, Philippe Troussier, Claude Le Roy, and Gerard Gili, from France.

Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic is on the pole position, the source said, given that he is a friend of Mr Raouraoua, and has already been contacted before the coming of Benchikha, 8 months ago.

The Bosnian, who departed from Ukraine Dynamo Kiev, is likely to accept the mission, and the two men have an appointment next week in Paris, to discuss the offer.

The second option of FAF is French coach Philippe Troussier who is known for his good job done with Senegal in the World Cup of 2002, while beating the world champion France in the knockdown round.

The other French coach Claude Le Roy could be contacted too, as a third option, regarding his long and successful experience in Africa.

However, the FAF is considering resorting to French coach Gerard Gili as a last option. The source further specified that Algeria football body has set a monthly salary of 30 thousand Euros for the upcoming coach.
