FFS not part of the constitution revision panel, Tabou

Socialist Forces Front (FFS) will not join the constitution revision panel which has been announced by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, last 15 Aril, FFS Secretary General, Karim Tabou, said on Tuesday.

• Mr Tabou told the Algerian radio channel III that the FFS “chooses to stand where citizens are, and not in red-carpet panels destined to settle the regime’s issues, rather than the people claims.”
• He further added that the revision of the constitution will be conducted without the participation of, not only the FFS, but also the people, stressing that all the constitutions that Algeria has known so far have been designed by a group of people inside specific institutions, “because the regime doesn’t give the opportunity to the people to make their own constitution.”
• FFS SG further specified that the priority of Algeria is heading up towards Democracy, through the establishment of democratic institutions “which would be able to bridge trust gap between the Algerians and the State. At this moment, Algerians would find means to write their first true constitution.”
