Finance Minister: “We Did Not Lie To People, Nothing Is Secret In The Financial Law”

Finance Minister, Hadji Baba Ammi, rejected the accusations that were made against his services, accusing them of lying to the Algerian people about the financial situation of the country.

“Finance Ministry relies on announcing the economic indicators in front of the media, and even the Finance Law for 2017 was studied in public and no action and procedures were hidden”.

He explained, on Tuesday, in response to questions from journalists on the sidelines of the examination of the draft Customs Code at the Popular Council, that Algerian should have examined the draft finance bill for the year 2017, because it dealt, in detail, with the economic data for the coming year, and there were no lies to the Algerian people.

General Secretary of the National Democratic Rally, Ahmed Ouyahia, accused the Finance Minister, Hadji Baba Ammi, when he emphasized that his reports on the financial situation are “wrong”, addressing him at the last press conference, saying: “You should better review your accounts because the economic situation is a serious .. and very dangerous”.

Finance Act 2017, which is expected to be signed, here on  today Wednesday, faced a lot of criticism because of the lifting of the VAT by 2%, which is considered by economists that it will necessarily lead to increases in all products and consumer goods, that noticed significant increases before its application in January 2017.

On the other hand, Finance Minister, Hadji Baba Ammi, asserted that the draft customs law comes to devote effectiveness in combating various negative phenomena that are plaguing the national economy such as amplification in invoices, smuggling, and counterfeit custom clearances.

In his response to the concerns and questions of MPs about the growing phenomenon of amplification in the bills, he said: “Algerian Customs are firmly active and engage in the international databases to monitor all violations that are recorded in this direction.

Talk about the bribes for customs officers at the level of crossing posts, along the lines of ports and airports, by travelers to pass the goods and commodities is exaggerated.
