Fire fighters to stage sit-in again out of Parliament
Fire fighters are expected to continue their protests on Thursday out of Parliament in Algiers as to claim their integration after they had been dismissed.
- “The decision to continue protests comes as the department of fire fighters did not meet our claims,” member of the Coordination for Fire Fighters Mourad Chico told Echorouk.
- Earlier on Monday, a number of dismissed fire fighters staged a sit-in out of Parliament as their department did not reply to their integration request.
- A number of fire fighters members of trade union also protested in units in the province of Boumerdes (50 km east of Algiers).
- According to sources, the protests come as the provincial director tightened the noose on fire fighters. He obliged them to sign a document to prove that they do not belong to any trade union.
- A member of fire fighters’ trade union said a sit-in is expected to be staged in the capital and the provinces of Boumerdes and Bouira (120 km east of Algiers).
- A previous meeting held at the department came up with a commission but it was rejected by the trade union though the director had promised to meet all the claims.
