FIS leading member Rabah Kebir in Algeria since July 18
Former senior member of the banned- Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) Rabah Kebir refused to make any statement to journalists and preferred to spend his annual holidays in his native town in Skikda province (east of Algiers).

Kebir has been in Algeria since July 18th to stay with family in summer and the fasting month of Ramadan. He has been living in Germany for 20 years. His family’s members refused to answer Echorouk’s question about his whereabouts.

Rabah Kebir was a leading member of the FIS. He decided to come back to Algeria as the government started implementing the Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation. He supported the re-election of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in 2004 and promoted the National Reconciliation bill as it was voted in a referendum in September 2005.

With the new mandate of Bouteflika, he supported him and showed a new speech to stress the necessity of supporting peace and reconciliation.
