Five people killed in Algiers gas explosion
A gas explosion killed five people in an Algiers apartment block on Tuesday and injured 14 others, official media reported.

The explosion, which occurred at about 9:00 a.m. (0800 GMT), demolished the top two floors of a five-storey block near the centre of the Algerian capital.

Firefighters earlier said three people were killed but a search of the rubble, now completed, had found a fifth body, the official APS news agency reported.
