Foreign ministry : US Travel Warning is « non-event »

Algerian foreign ministry did not give a big importance to US travel warning in Algeria issued on August 13th and described it as « non-event. »
« The US Travel Wrning is a routine document addressed to American nationals in Algeria or those who want to go there, » Abdelaziz Ben Ali Cherif, a spokesman for the ministry told the Algeria news agency (APS).
« The warning which says two terrorist groups are still operating in Algeria is baseless, » he added.
He raised questions about stereotypes about Algeria.
« Strategically speaking, Algeria defeated terrorism and has become a main element in terrorism countering cooperation since a long time. This warning comes a few days after the US-African Summit, » he said.
