Forensic Services Freeze Marriage Virginity Certificates

Forensic services froze the granting of virginity certificates by virtue of the recent amendments to the Family Law, Chairman of the Department of Forensic Medicine at the level of Mustapha Pasha Hospital, Professor Rachid Belhadj, said.

“These certificates were granted largely by girls who want to marry, to prove their virginity, as the husbands resort, in a lot of areas to commit his future wife, to provide this certificate.”

“Virginity certificate at the moment is not given only by order of the judicial authorities for investigations on girls who were raped, those who runaway from home, and others involved criminal cells.”

“Recent amendments came to preserve women’s privacy, freedom and sanctity.”
