Former Minister's son joined a cell for pilgrimage passports' trading

Security services dismantled a dangerous cell that is specialized in pilgrimage passports trading for this season, which is active at the level of several cities of the country and led by “officials and their children” including the son of a former Minister.

The same authorities are currently investigating with six accused.
In this context, Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights, said from its regional Office in Chlef (western Algeria), that it possesses detailed and precise information regarding the dismantling of the cell that is specialized in pilgrimage passports’ trading for the season 2014, and that is operating at the level of several cities along the lines with Chlef, Algiers and other nearby cities, where officials and their children get implicated, including a son a former Minister, as the relevant services are currently investigating with six defendants in several administrative services at the city’s level. 
According to the ALDHR statement, which copy is available to Echorouk, a lot of talk in the pilgrimage seasons of recent years about the problems faced by the pilgrims, and indicating the occurrence of elders and elderly victims of the scam, and others are staging a protest out of Saudi Arabia Embassy doors asking for visas. 
“There are points of weaknesses in laws and Algerian legislation on the protection of witnesses and informants on the issues of corruption, as informants and witnesses find themselves always between the hammer of reporting and the anvil of punishment, both from the perpetrators or the public authorities, and therefore it calls upon the authorities to amend the law No. 06-01 concerning the prevention and combating corruption, in addition to the amendment of Article 96 of the Algerian Penal Code.
