Former terrorist leader addressing armed groups through a TV program: Get out of your lunacy

In surprising revelations the founder of the terrorist group “Foreigners’ squad “and former militant in the Salafit Group for Call and Combat, Abu Abderrehman Al Athiri Ben Yekhlef Kermizli has indicated that the terrorist groups in Algeria are not created on a specific ideology saying “ It’s like as if you are in an insane asylum nobody is mentally fit, they kill everything with everything”.

He has indicated that the armed groups kill for the sake of killing” Hopefully, they are not heavily equipped otherwise they would have eradicated hole villages”. He further added “These groups do not obey to any ideology and cannot be identified to neither “ Al Khouaredj” nor “ Fatimides” in the past, they kill as they wish and do not obey to any religious authority”.

As to the willingness expressed by the remaining terrorists in activity to benefit from the procedures of the National Peace and Reconciliation Charter, he has indicated “ There are some brothers who denounce the organization’s methods and wish to comeback to their families”, adding” but there are many hurdles including fear from the leader’s backlash or lack of confidence and misleading preaches issued by some leaders who advocate armed activities”.

Ben Yekhlef has addressed the reluctant saying” There is a difference between killing and resisting, Muslims were ordered to resist and not kill… when you put explosive devices in an official building, a market or a public square you are not fighting but killing, and this  goes against all principles”.

The ring leader has indicated in his intervention on air broadcast by the Algerian religious channel on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the charter on national peace and reconciliation, that the charter doesn’t represent any party and cannot be limited to writings on the walls but it’s a long term process that requires diffusing of mines and healing the wounds. The process has started with the national concord law that we have to promote”.

Kermizli has further added “The law has come up with positive impacts and brought people back to their houses, families and children, many people are now living in peace and happiness”, noting” Those who are still operating in the mountains are misled by the preachers of violence who use the desperate  youngsters to stay in power”.
