French Defense Ministry estimated its expenditure on Harkis (traitors) of Algeria Revolution and members of the Special Administrative Offices “LA SAS”, and the Pieds-Noirs who fled from Algeria under the name of “Deported from Algeria”, with about 40 billion euros, I.e more than 40,000 billion ZDZ, and this since independence to today.

This came in response to the State Secretariat at the French Defense Ministry in charge of war veterans and memory on a written question in the French Senate, dated on May 2015, and it said that what was done by the French authorities towards the Harkis of Algeria war, and those with their rights, and those who were deported from this country (Pieds-Noirs) who represent more than 40 billion euros, and this since 1961, noting that those are costs which represent their reception on the French territory, their residence, debts’ omission and compensation for deportees “Pieds-Noirs”, and their social assistance and certificates of recognition.
Same answer revealed that the budget that Paris allocated to Harkis for 2015 reached up to 19.4 million euros, I.e  19 billion ZDZ, with an increase of 1.6 million euros for the year 2013, while the Pieds-Noirs’ compensation for the properties which they left after their departure from Algeria reached 4% for each property that belonged to them, with not subjecting the compensations of the French tax system.
French MPs demanded on last June to withhold the Harkis archive and members of the Special Administrative Offices “La SAS”, during the Liberation Revolution, from the French National Archives’ in Aix en Provence, because it contains detailed information about them and the addresses of their residence in France, as they accused Algeria of spying on them, under the pretext of an Algerian academic research university.
