French authorities advise their nationals against travelling by night in Algeria

The French foreign Ministry has warned the French citizens leaving in the Sahel region and the French nationals heading for Algeria or transiting through it, against terrorists’ threats and kidnappings.

  •
  • The French authorities have called their nationals to stay alert and advised t-hem to reduce their movements at maximum especially in the southern regions on account of the terrorists’ threats that loom large in many of these areas.
  •
  • In an alarming message posted on its website, the French Foreign Ministry has warned against the upsurge of terrorist activities on the Algerian soil stretching from the North ton the South. The message has focussed on the fact that these acts reach their peak in the summer season especially in the Kabylia region targeting mainly the security forces, but also foreigners.
  •
  • The French Foreign Ministry has also indicated that tourist activities are in their nadir in the regions of Tamanrasset and Djanet, southern Algeria, during the summer season if compared with winter where these areas register hectic activities. On account of that, it is preferable not to venture to these regions, the message added, to avoid being kidnapped by the terrorists.
  •
  • It has recalled that the terrorists threat is the same be it in the North or the South and the terrorists have already issued threats against foreign targets in Algeria especially the French and US ones.
  •
  • The French authorities have called on their nationals to book through the Algerian travel agencies that received permits from the Algerian authorities during their travels to the south, warning against further kidnappings of foreigners in the neighboring countries like Niger, Mauritania and Mali.
