Gaid Saleh: “Armed Forces Must Be Kept Away From Political Ambitions”
Algeria National Army is firmly committed to protecting the borders from the threat of terrorism and Transnational Crime, Maj.Gen. Ahmed Gaid Saleh, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Chief of Army Staff, said on Sunday.
“The army institution is free from the political ambitions”.
He called on officials and members of the army and the various security services to ensure the success of the elections’ date, through participation in the performance of their national duty, in accordance with the laws in force and work to provide a safe environment, to enable citizens to perform their duty in an atmosphere of tranquility and stability.
“In this context, I would like to remind you once again that the duty of the military personnel and the various security services regarding this important day is a double duty, the first part of which is to participate in the vote, together with the citizens in accordance with the procedures in force and in line with what it is imposed on the military personnel and obligations of citizenship, on the basis that the good citizen must be conscious and sincere, and who always asks self, what did he/she offer to the homeland? Before asking what has been provided to him/her, the second part is to ensure through all stages of the electoral process a safe and stable environment, and provide all appropriate conditions that ensure citizens to carry out their national duty with all freedom and tranquility and comfort”.
Gaid Saleh renewed the call for everyone to strictly abide by the special provision concerning this important national day that was issued on October 5, 2017″.
During a working visit and inspection that was led by the Maj. Gen. Gaid Saleh to the 12th infantry of mechanics in Jdalfa and the visit that will lead him to the headquarters of the first military region in Balida (western Algiers), as stated in the message of the President of the Republic that was addressed to the nation on the occasion of the sixty-third anniversary of the emergence of the liberation revolution in which he praised the efforts of members of the national army to protect the country from all dangers.
According to a statement that was issued by the Ministry of National Defense, the visit began on its first day by inspecting the 12th mechanized infantry brigade in Djelfa, and after the reception, with the Major General, Habib Chentouf, the commander of the first military zone, he met with the infantry’s officials and members, where he gave a guiding speech.
