Gaza aid convoy delegation offers present to Algeria President

The Algerian delegation which led Gaza aid convoy in support of the Freedom Flotilla brought some clay to offer to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on behalf of Palestinian leaders and people in Gaza.

  • The delegation’s chief Nacereddine Chaklal said the convoy received a hearty welcome. “The delegation was composed of people faithful to the Palestine cause. A similar convoy will be organised soon if there are favourable conditions.”
  •
  • The first idea was to have 40 people in the delegation but well-informed persons advised Chaklal to reduce the number face less difficulties.
  •
  • “The idea of organising the convoy comes back to 2009 when we were thinking to join Galloway’s convoy in Telmcen (west of Algiers). After that, we wished to have an Algerian convoy and it was the current one,” said the delegation’s chief.
  •
  • He also said he was sorry for not being able to give more aid especially food. “We could have given about 2000 tons of food if Egypt allowed us to do that.”
  •
  • The delegation offered an olive tree brought from Gaza to President Bouteflika. Echorouk will be in charge of transmitting this present to the president. The delegation’s members said they did that to express their proud of Algeria’s official position towards the Palestine cause.
