Defence staff of the retired Gen. Houcine Ben Hadid, who was placed in the temporary detention of Algiers El Harrache, said that his health condition after 100 days of detention is “very critical”, and that his case took political dimensions, including a plan to carry out a coup against Algeria, and confirmed in a press conference, that it will deposit a request to release Ben Hadid provisionally at the week.
Lawyer, Bachir Mechri, asserted on Sunday that the health and psychological state of the General Houcine Ben Hadid is very degraded, and that the investigation into his client’s case is still at a standstill and walking slowly, as the investigating judge did not yet listen to him at the Sidi M’hamed, 100 days after his arrest and imprisonment, and this despite correspondence which he made to speed up listening to him, and this constitutes a breach of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
“The charge against his client is false and unfounded in the Criminal Procedure Code, and it has been politicized in a good way, as to be seen as a coup against Algeria. Accusations against my client do not require all that time to investigate or to listen to his words. Justice refused to call an important party in the case, who is the director of radio station to listen to his words and the cause remains unknown.”
For his part, the lawyer Khalid Bourayou said, that the follow-up of the retired Gen. Ben Hadid is a malicious image to overthrow him, after the facts of the issue were supposed to be listed among the press offenses, and explained that the content of the statements that were made by his client are just a call for ex-leaders to save Algeria, and wondered whether the call to save Algeria is a crime that should be pursued criminally.
