Gourcuff: I will terminate my contract on Sunday

Algeria coach Christian Gourcuff Thursday said he did not decide to quit but he wants to go.

Gourcuff Thursday made his mind up about his future with Algeria team. He told a French newspaper that he would meet the chairman of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) Mohamed Raouraoua on Sunday to agree on a mutual agreement. He decided to leave the team and go back to the French champion’s league. 

He also said he did not officially resigned but he wants to settle the issue in a friendly way.

He told the same newspaper he is surprised why the FAF’s chairman insists on him to stay. “I want to quit. I informed Raouraoua about that in November. I also talked with players about that after the match against Ethiopia and told them I will not change my decision.”

“I do not want to be in legal conflicts. I do not see any good thing in keeping a coach who wants to leave,” he added.

Gourcuff believes that it is the “good time to quit.”

He said he could not have control over the FAF’s policy, describing football environment in Algeria as “rotted.”
