Government issues stringent measures over farmlands’ exploitation

The government has yesterday endorsed the executive decree concerning the exploitation of the state owned farmlands by private investors imposing a list of specifications that the investors should abide by including 7 cases that could lead to the breach of the contract.

  •
  • These rules stipulate that the farmer shouldn’t keep the land untilled over a year long, change the initial activity and constructing on the farmland without prior permit granted by the National Office of Farmlands.
  •
  • The other cases that could threaten the farmer to lose his exploitation include his failure to pay his charges after two successive delays, false declarations and the last case deals with the absence of direct management of the investor on the farmland.
  •
  • The beneficiaries have to renew their application 12 months at least before the end of the exploitation deadline and should present their request to the National Farmlands Office. This governmental institution has all the prerogatives to directly supervise on all the farmlands.
