Government to endorse the health inspectors’ status

During its last meeting, the government has approved the executive decree project concerning the status of public health inspectors pending its release on the official journal to come into force.

• In doing so, the health ministry intent to stiffen control on public and private health institutions, pharmacies and dental surgery and assign the inspectors the task of supervising the appropriate implementation of ratings and supervise hygiene in hospitals and other institutions in relation to health sector.

• The main task of these inspectors lies in implementing the basic rules of hygiene at hospitals and other health institutions, set up medical equipment and evaluates public and private health institution’s activities.

• The inspectors have to supervise basic service and emergencies to make sure that the personnel on duty is in place; Besides, they are assigned the task to carry out the appropriate investigations to open or close health institutions and supervise the implementation of the national health programs.

• The inspectors are designated on the basis of the requirements which stipulate that they have to prove five years experience as general practitioner and have to follow a year period of specific training.
•  
• The practitioners’ inspectors are decided into three categories: General practitioners, Pharmacists’ and Dental surgeons’ inspectors.
