Hachemi Djiar: “The current Algeria football line-up should be shored up”

The Youth and Sports Minister, Mr Hachemi Djiar, has said that the current Algerian national football squad should duly receive extended backing from all and sundry in the light of their commendable participation in the 2010 World cup tournament in South Africa.  

• The Minister said that his ministerial department executives had worked out a report extolling the Algeria squad with no blemishes given their praiseworthy performance over the past two years with on focus their recent honorable participation in the World cup football jamboree versus such indomitable teams as Slovenia, England and the USA.
• On a question related to national coach Rabah Saâdane’s future with the Algeria team, Hachemi Djiar refused to give any reply on the matter.
• This ‘no comment” from the youth and sports Minister could imply that Rabah Saâdane’s future at the helm of the Greens’ technical staff has been put on hold for the time being pending new developments on the issue in the next few weeks.
• Mr Hachemi Djiar said that the current Algeria football squad had the necessary talent and potential to do better and to forge ahead in the future regional and international competitions provided they are extended the required moral and material backing from the public authorities as well as from all the football lovers in Algeria.
