Hadj pilgrimage 2010: “Bleak reports to be put forth to the Prime Minster”
The sufferings of the Algerian Hajjis or pilgrims in the holy places of Islam in Saudi Arabia reached their peak in the last days of this religious obligation.
- The delays in the air transport of the Algerian pilgrims were once again the order of the day this year.
- As a matter of fact, certain return flights recorded delays of up to 14 hours which hiked the number of deaths among the exhausted Algerian pilgrims to 32.
- The interministerial commission in charge of assessing the pilgrimage season has worked out a very negative report on the 2010 Hadj season.
- This bleak report which will be put forth to the Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia will be thoroughly discussed during a forthcoming inter-ministerial council’s meeting slated for mid – December.
- Tough sanctions are expected to be taken by the relevant commission against those executives who failed to fulfill their obligations towards the Hajjis properly.
