“Hard jobs” list sparks conflict among federations in Algeria

The General Union of Algerian Workers will start holding meetings on Monday to determine jobs which will be included in « hard professions » category. A total of 22 federations have different points of view in this regard.

The Union’s Secretary General Abdelmadjid Sidi Said will meet the 22 federations at the People’s House in Algiers. The meeting will be held behind close doors and will deal with technical matters. A joint working team is expected to be established to be in charge of determining sectors as part of “hard jobs,” according to sources at the Union.

Each federation will give its point of view and the working team will examine their suggestions.

According to the same sources, there is a real conflict between the federations. Each one calls for being included in the “hard professions.”

Employees in “hard jobs” category will benefit from relative retirement. Physical and mental effort, climate conditions and exposure to chemical components will be taken in consideration.
