Health Sector’s Claims: Setting Of Retirement Age And Pension’s Rate To Be Hiked To 80%

The National Union of professor researchers and academics has urged the relevant authorities to seriously address a string of its pending demands which have been left in abeyance for two years now, notably the urgent need to determine the age of retirement for this section of teaching professors whose number is set at 4,500 at the national level.

The Union’s spokesperson, Professor Rachid Belhadj  affirmed to this effect, that the latter would be themselves concerned by the newly-adopted retirement law if steps are taken to lift the rate of their retirement pensions from 55 to 80 percent, in addition to addressing other concerns centered on the payment of salaries for the assistant professors in a timely manner.

He also called for the imperious necessity of upgrading working conditions in the country’s hospitals and health centers notably by easing overcrowding through decentralization and bolstering security in and around these health institutions because of the recurrent acts of aggression committed by some disgruntled or mentally-deranged people against the medical and para-medical staff.

Professor Rachid Belhadj made this statement to “Echorouk” on the sidelines of a meeting of the General Assembly, held yesterday, at Mustapha Bacha university hospital, devoted to the nagging problem of violence and acts of aggression inside hospitals and universities faced daily by the medical personnel and with the participants laying the focus on the imperious need for the relevant authorities to find urgent ways of stamping out this nefarious phenomenon that shows no sign of abating, he emphasized.
