Hearty welcome for Algeria handball team
Algerian handball team had an unprecedented warm welcome on Sunday as they won the third place in the 2010 African Handball Cup of Nations held in Egypt.
- Ladies and men’s teams arrived at the International Airport of Algiers at around noon. They were received by the sports minister Hachemi Djiar, chief of the Olympic Committee Rachid Hanifi and a number of officials.
- A large number of music bands praised the Algerian players’ heroic performance. The team is not used to witness such a scene.
- Though it was raining, a crowd of fans went to the players to congratulate them for their good job in the Pharaohs’ land.
- Ladies and men’s teams are expected to have an official welcome in the next few days. Chief of the Algerian Handball Federation Djaafar Ait Mouloud said a number of organisations were asking him to pay tribute to the team.
