Four major rivers pour into Ketirinnin River namely: Kacem River, Djennan River, Mohammed Boudiaf River, El Hamir River and Guerragu River.

-
Ketirinni overflowed its banks three times in the past due to heavy rain; the first one was in 1989, then 1997 and the last time was in 2007 despite a giant project to secure the surrounding compounds from floods but for no avail.

-
At the moment where the inhabitants were preparing for the late prayer of ‘Tarawih” after the break of fasting, they heard a thundering sound coming down form the river while water was rushing towards them.
-
-
10 minutes were enough to inundate all the compounds and overflow the houses until the roofs forcing the inhabitants to run for their lives leaving all behind them. More than 180 families were forced to sleep out in the open after losing their properties in the catastrophe.

-
Highway 08 was closed to traffic for several hours due to the uninterrupted falling rain that caused considerable damage.

The catastrophe could have been worse if it occurred late in the night and surprised the inhabitants in their sleep
