High schools teachers go on unlimited strike in Algeria
Teachers paralyzed high schools by more than 85 percent in Algeria as the National Independent Council of High School Teachers announced that the strike would be unlimited.
“The Council is not supposed to give another prior notice about the strike because the strike did not stop and will continue until our demands are satisfied. Because of that, the strike is legal. The Council’s union submitted the prior notice on September 29th,” press attaché at the union Messaoud Boudiba told Echorouk.
“Teachers paralyzed high schools by more than 85 percent while 25 percent of junior high schools and 10 percent of primary schools are on strike,” he added.
Boudiba said the Council may not sue the education ministry to recover their rights as the strike remains the legal way to settle their problems.
