Higher Education Minister prevented from reaching his office

A group of thugs have used knives and swords to attack university students from the upper colleges who were staging a sit- in by the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry premises here in Algiers.

• Meanwhile, security forces have sealed off all the issues leading to the presidential palace and the governmental one and barred pharmacy students from reaching those two official buildings.
• Scores of angry students have yesterday staged a sit –in early in the morning by the Higher Education Ministry preventing , thus, the minister and several employees from the reaching the working place.
• The protesters have warned against an open end sit-in on spot after the denial of the relevant authority to meet their grievances against the background of contradictory declarations issued by the minister who asserted in many occasions that the situation has returned to normalcy at the universities.
• To recall, skirmishes have broke out the day before yesterday between students and the security forces resulting several injuries among the protesters, who vowed to carry on their movement until the fulfillment of their grievances.
