Higher Education minister stops a TV program
The Higher Education and Scientific Research minister Rachid Herouabia has ordered the Algerian television to cancel the broadcasting of a TV program slated for April 1st, that covered the latest unrests that rocked the Algerian universities.
- The program called “ Likaa El Ousboue” ( the week’s meeting) is presented by the journalist Djamel Ben Ali.
- The minister has intervened 30 minutes before the broadcasting time to withdraw the tape and replace it by another program, sources from the Algerian TV have revealed.
- The same sources have indicated that the minister’s private secretary M Guerfi has demanded the journalist Djamel Ben Ali to write off two questions over the grievance of the students for the departure of Rachid Herouabia , at a time where the minister himself didn’t find any problem to answer the questions.
- The TV crew was surprised by the presence of the minister’s driver at the Algerian TV premises who asked them a copy of the interview to have a look at it, but they haven’t expected such a radical decision from the minister .
