Housing Price in Algeria Among the Most Expensive Worldwide

Price of houses in Algeria is among the most expensive in the world, Contractors said.

“Housing in Algeria is among the most expensive in the world, due to speculation and lack of determining the price by any party, which requires coordination between the contractor and the management to reduce the cost of housing, and reduce speculation which responsibility should be taken by various parties”, General Assembly of Algerian Contractors Chairman, Mouloud Khalloufi, explained.

The statement came during a meeting of the General Assembly of Algerian Contractors in the House of Culture in Setif, on Thursday, with the participation of representatives from 32 provinces. 

Contractors Association’s Chairman called to the need for the rehabilitation of building institutions to develop their capacity and improve the quality of housing, and that through resorting to partnership, private-private or public-private, to ensure the quality and speed of delivery, with the allocation of activity areas to save contractors’ equipment, and then there will be no need for the Chinese to complete the houses in Algeria.

“Problem of the quality of housing in Algeria, which was not taken into consideration before focusing only on the number of completed houses (quantum), on account of improvement and attention to comfort and environment, needs the opening the file of quantity in the housing sector ,and we came out with recommendations for transfer it to the Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, mainly related to the development of the construction sector, and to provide the proper environment for the contractor to contribute to improving the quality of housing.”

“Problem tof housing quality lies in the book of conditions which prevents the contractor from creativity in achievement, and the case is now posed at the level of the Housing Minister, which is asked to open the way for contractors and the offices of studies to encourage the quality and improve environnement.”
