Hundred patriots rally day and night in Algiers to demand compensation
A hundred self defense guards (GLD) have rallied in Martyrs Square, in Algiers downtown, to claim what they called as their “legitimate rights.â€
- The GLD guards have decided remaining in the Square of Martyrs day and night until authorities meet their claims.
- The “Patriots”, as they are nicknamed, came from deferent parts of the country and have lifted a 7 items list of which Echorouk got a copy.
- In this regard, the national coordinator of the GLD, Merouche Saadi said their claims have been submitted to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Prime Minister, Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Interior, in order to demand solving their 16 year-old pending issue.
- The main claims of GLD elements are to be granted compensation for their 16 years service in countering terrorism, to be granted jobs or to be integrated either in the National Army or the Ministry of Interior.
- Hundreds other GLD elements are to join the rally spot in Algiers as by today and then holding a sit-in before the Parliament to make their voice heard.
