Illegal holidays for a week due to Eid el Fitr

Eid al-Fitr 2014 coincides with the weekend holiday, as many officials and employees in the public economic institutions took the opportunity to take “illegal holidays” for a period of Seven days, and that will paralyze services for citizens, and will cause a scarcity in supplying shops with some consumer products, especially vegetables, fruits and milk, in spite of the measures that were taken to ensure the day minimum services in Eid el Fitr.
In this context, Hadj Taher Boulenouar, spokesman for the Federation of Algerian Merchants and Craftsmen, said that Eid el Fitr coincides with the weekend, and this would create a disturbance with respect to supplying the wholesale markets that are 43 at the national level, because those who supply products to traders with goods like farmers and owners of refrigeration rooms, will not apply the system of maintenance that was imposed by the Ministry of Agriculture, and can not be forced to work the days of Eid el Fitr.
“Agents of selling vegetables and fruits at the level of the wholesale markets entered in a perplex since Saturday after they received information from farmers and suppliers, that they will not work during the days of Eid el Fitr, and this is because the workers would receive their holidays, and they mostly live out of their Wilayas.”
“Problem of supply will raise itself strongly during this holiday, and would adversely affect the prices that will rise due to scarcity. A minimum of services by shops and private bakeries will be guaranteed through a system of maintenance, and that after creating a law since 2013, and services of Wilaya and the Commerce Directorate will identify lists of concerned traders, whose number reached about 15,000.
