IMF Director General in a visit to Algeria

The spokesman of the International Monetary Fund has revealed from Washington that the director General of the IMF Dominique Strauss Kahn is due in Algeria on November 3 and 4 and will confer with the members of the Algerian government, top officials of the Algerian bank and other financial institutions.

• Dominique Strauss Kahn will discuss with the Algerian officials several issues concerning the Algerian economy as part of the IMF regular visit to the members of this institution also known “Provision 4 discussions”.

•  Experts from the International Fund pay visit to the countries to collect financial and economic data and discuss with these countries’ officials the economic strategies of the nations.

• Following this visit, these experts forward a report to the IMF Executive Board that will be summarized by the president and presented to the supervised country.

• The Algerian Bank has revealed that Dominique Strauss Kahn will take part to a forum on natural resources and will meet the press at the end of his visit to Algeria in order to present highlights on the economic prospects in the Muddle east and North Africa.

• The IMF expects an increase of the Algerian GDP to reach $ 159 billions over the year 2010 in comparison to $ 139.8 billions in 2009 and the increase will carry on in 2011 to reach $ 179 billions thanks to the world economic recovery.
