Informal Market Lobbies take over new 2000 Dinar banknotes

Experts from the Bank of Algeria have indicated that the new 2000 dinar banknotes are among the safest banknotes and their forging is virtually impossible at least for the time being.

• These experts told “Echorouk” that state of the art technology had been used to make these new banknotes the safest so far.

• The issuing of the 2000 dinar banknotes on April 28^th 2011 is aimed at curbing the acute liquid assets crisis besetting for several months now the Algérie Poste National network which manages about 13 million current accounts.

• However, the issuing of these banknotes has touched off adverse rumours spread by venal informal market lobbies which alleged that the Algerian citizens have no trust in these banknotes and will reject them with the aim of taking over a maximum amount of the newly-issued banknotes in circulation.

• In a reaction, the Bank of Algeria reassured the Algerian citizens and took the necessary steps to straighten out the situation so as to avoid any untoward drift.
