International Cell for Smuggling Moroccan Cannabis Dismantled in Algiers Port
Algiers gendarmerie services dismantle an international drug trafficking cell that is selling drugs in several Algerian cities, starting from the Moroccan border to Algiers port, for the smuggling by sea.
They seized more than 7 quintals and 55 kilos of Moroccan cannabis, arrest five people, and identify six others.
According to available information, the case is dating back to information that was received by the regional group of the national gendarmerie in Algiers, about the presence of an international gang in drug trafficking and trade in several cities, from the western border, “Tlemcen” towards the center, by several people who are drug dealers in several municipalities and districts of Algiers, towards the port of the capital, to try to remove them and promote them outside Algeria.
Regional gendarmerie battalion in Cheraga opened investigations, then gendarmes tracked the movements and activities of members of this cell, from the western cities, until their arrival to Algiers.
Based on investigations, they arrested and controlled a truck of the Type JMC, which was carrying the numbering of Oran Province at the National Road of Cheraga municipality, western Algiers, and after the inspection, the gendarmes seized 7 quitals and 55 kilograms drugs, before the promotion on several sheets that are weighing 250 g each one, covered with plastic and hidden tightly.
After intensifying investigations to dismantle the cell, control and seize all drugs before their promotion and access to the port, investigators were able to cut the road that links between the city Cheraga and Ouled Fayet and arrest two people “S.H” 40, “F.L” 36, who were on board of a Jaguar that is carrying Algiers numbering, in possession of cocaine, that was intended for consumption, and who were awaiting for the arrival of the truck that was carrying the drug.
After the legal proceedings and permission to extend the jurisdiction of the movement of a team of gendarmes investigators to the city of Tlemcen, where they were able to arrest two people”A.F” 36, and “M.R” 43, and seizing binoculars, a telescope and a financial amount of 39 million centimes, a pc and several mobile phones, investigators found that they had contacts abroad.
Gendarmerie investigators arrested another person “A.S”,37, in Tebessa after the extension of jurisdiction. Prosecutor of Cheraga Court sentenced the arrested to jail and ordered the opening of more investigations into the case.
