Interpol chases 34 Algerians over various crimes
The judicial police departments across the 48 Algerian provinces have registered more than 3000 cases related to economic crimes and corruptions that involved 7061 individuals including 800 foreigners over the year 2010.
- Meanwhile, Interpol has issued 34 arrest warrants against 34 Algerians over various crimes. Algiers takes the lead with 90% of the overall cases followed by the western provinces of Oran and Sidi -Belabes with the remnant 10 %.
- he judicial police chief, Colonel Abdelaziz Al Affani has indicated that the specialized units dispatched across the 48 provinces country wide have treated 3662 cases over the year 2010 involving 3076 individuals among them 128 foreign nationals.
- 634 criminals were remanded in custody, 321 were put under legal restrictions while 321 others have been summoned for investigations, he added.
- Crimes related to forgery come in the first position with 956 cases involving 2018 individuals including 449 foreigners, followed by cars smuggling with 144 cases involving 14 foreigners from various nationalities.
- Crimes related to corruptions stand in the third position with 75 cases involving 95 individuals including 5 foreigners, the same sources added.
