Iran wins Algeria mosques restoration

The Islamic Republic of Iran will carry out a large number of projects to restore and protect ancient mosques and some archaeological remains in Algeria as part of the event of ‘Tlemcen, the capital of the Islamic Culture 2011,’ said Religious Affairs Ministry advisor.

  • Algerian religious affairs minister Bouabdellah Ghoulam Allah and his Iranian counterpart have held consultations on the implementation of bilateral agreements between the two countries, said Adda Felahi.
  •
  • The agreements were signed by Presidents Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Ahmadi Nadjad on their exchanged visits. They stipulate religious cooperation and expertise exchange.
  •
  •
  • Previously, Iran suggested contributing in the project of the Great Mosque of Algiers. It is expected to win a part of its works including decoration in conformity to Islamic standards.
  •
  • “We don’t have to be afraid of Shi’ism because it does not threat the Algerian nation. We have to be afraid of evangelisation,” said Felahi.
