ISIS, Hard Currency in Flights Towards 10 Countries In Red Box

Border police and customs services prepare a joint mechanism to tighten control on 10 flights from or towards Arab and European countries, after discovering large operations of hard currency smuggling, that is used to join the terrorist organization “ISIS”,Border police chief said.

“Every passenger who has even 50 euros plus the amount that is allowed (7500 Euros), will be arrested under subject to interrogation.”

Joint mechanism between the departments of National Security and Customs, according to Echorouk, is related to tightening control and inspectios on flights to 10 European and Arab countries, after a series of investigations that were opened by the relevant security authorities, and which revealed that the smugglers and a number of Algerians are taking advantage of these trips, to smuggle currency to other countries, or to join ISIS.

Echorouk sources, also revealed that the investigations that are related to smuggling money proved the existence of 550 bank accounts in Switzerland, as the owners transfer money illegally, and this is sometimes in coordination with the drug smuggling cells, and the “mafia” which exploits the import and export operations, and manipulating bills and financial operations in Algeria, as the investigation revealed that $50 million are transferred every day to this bank in a confidential manner.

In this context, the Border Police Director at the General Directorate for National Security, and police observer, Quissem Hamid, told Echorouk, on the sidelines of the fifth General Assembly of the International Conference of Kigali on the role of security forces in reducing violence against women and girls, said: “Policy that is adopted currently by the border police services at ports, airports and border posts, is based on tightening the screws on the money smugglers abroad, following the instructions of the National Security command, as every traveller, who is heading to abroad should only have 7500 euros (not plus 50 euros), otherwise he/she will be arrested and subject to investigation.”

List of countries that are concerned with these measures are, Turkey, Dubai, Switzerland, Tunisia, Qatar, France, Spain, London, Belgium, and Egypt.
