Israeli Lobby in France Work on Hindering My Reelection in the Senate, Alima Boumedien

Alima Boumediene, a Senator for the Green Party in France, of Algerian descent said she is subject to a rude campaign by the Israeli lobby in France to deter her from running for a new parliamentary term.

Ms Alima Boumedien told Echorouk reporter that “Israel supporters and lobby” in France of enduring her “a fierce campaign to hinder my reelection for a new term in the Senate. Earlier, they forced me to quit, they are making pressure on me to force me ending my political career and not appearing in the election lists of my party.”

She further added that she has supported the French-Norwegian judge Eva Joly, to win the Green party’s nomination to run for the French presidency in 2012.

“I endorsed at the very beginning my colleague Eva Joly, because she represents our struggle for environment and social equality, for more diversified and opened France faithful to its republican values. Ms Eva Joly is the right person for this post, as she is famous for fighting anti-corruption cases when she was a judge.” She added: “We have strong chances to win elections in 2012, and are intending making alliance with the Socialist Party in the second round, if we must! French people are looking for an alternative, given that the right wing government has failed in their eyes to face economic and social challenges.”

As for the controversy over “dual nationality issue” in France, Ms Boumedien said: “Well, it’s obvious that nationals of Maghreb descent are the first targeted by Sarkozy’s bill banning the hold of two citizenships,” adding: “Two years earlier, the party in power in France has disapproved a text in the EU Convention forcing dual nationality living in the EU zone to chose one nationality, which means that Sarkozy’s party has backed off on its own decision. Now, the party in power tends to adopt a law permitting generalizing the EU Convention on all dual nationals, except those belonging to the EU space, which means that Sarkozy plan targets French of Maghreb origin.”
