Italian authorities arrest 26 Algerian illegal immigrants heading for Sardinia Island
The Italian coast guards have announced the interception of boat carrying 26 illegal immigrants heading for Sardinia Island.
Sources have revealed that the Italian authorities have intercepted the 8 meter long boat 45 miles off the coast of Sardinia carrying 26 illegal immigrants including four minors.
The police have supplied first aids to the immigrants including food and blankets before transferring them to Cagliari transit camp.
The Italian security forces of the city of Genoa have carried out recently and operation as part of the program for the fight against illegal immigration that crowned by the arrest of 5 individuals.
The Italian media have revealed that the arrested people will be charged for forgery and criminal activities. The investigations carried out since 2009 have revealed that the group’s mastermind was from the region of Calabria and had criminal records.
The group comprises members from various nationalities including, Tunisian, Egyptian, Chinese and Algerians who facilitate illegal immigration for their fellow citizens in exchange for money ranging from 8 to 10 thousand Euros.
