Italian police have arrested on Wednesday 22 Algerian emigrants, and issued arrest warrants on 8 others under charges of stealing and transferring 2 million Euros to Algeria.

Local media reported that the Italian police opened an investigation on a gang, composed of 30 Algerian nationals and a 70 year Italian. The gang is specialized in stealing luxury cars and shops, sell the stolen staff in France, Belgium and Holland, while the revenues are transferred to Algeria. The source said Italian detectives are investigating on the destination of the funds in Algeria, as some believe they are likely transferred to terror groups here.

The Italian police are cooperating with their Algerian counterparts on this issue, the source added.
