Italy asks Sonatrach to provide concrete guarantees on gas supplies

the Italian authorities, represented by Edison Company for gas marketing and electricity production, had requested assurances from Sonatrach in order to ensure continued Gas supply to Italy against the backdrop of social protests that has swept over Algeria and strikes in the Southern areas which produce gas and oil.

 “Manager of Edison Company, which exports the Algerian gas to Italy and produce electricity as well, Mr. Umberto Quadrino, met leaders of Sonatrach a few days ago and asked them to provide concrete guarantees that would ensure continued Algerian gas supplies to Italy with the same level, due to the social protests in Algeria, especially in southern oil and gas areas, hence creating a large apprehension of possible interruption of supplies, as Sonatrach responded that things are normal and there are no problems of that kind”, Echorouk sources explained.
