The first results of the investigation into the Sonatrach-Eni-Saipem corruption scandal appeared. A court in Italy ordered to lead an inquiry in Algeria to find out more details about the involvement of its energy former minister Chakib Khelil in a $200-million-bribe.

A month ago, eight judges launched a judicial pole in a court in Italy in charge of investigating in many corruption cases including the Sonatrach-Eni-Saipem scandal.

The eight-judge-pole chose the Sonatrach-Eni-Saipem scandal as the first case to be investigated. It targeted the relation between Khelil and the former man No 1 at Eni group Paulo Sacaroni.

Earlier, Algerian authorities froze 79 million euros funds of Italian oil service group Saipem as part of investigations into suspicious transactions with national energy group Sonatrach.
