Jobless youth anger: 160 detained workers suffer inside an oil base Southern Algeria
Over 160 workers, who have been detained since more than a week in their company “Inavor” National Petroleum, one of the branches of SONATRACH, in the region called Tinezeroufat, which is located 200 kilometers from the headquarters of Regguane Department in the state of Adrar, while angry youth in the region in question refuse to leave the building that is besieged by security services until now, according to workers’ explanations for Echorouk.
Detained workers suffer constant tension and serious concern, having been stranded as a result of their detention within the base of life that is belonging to the same company by the youth of Regguane area, who installed tents in front of the company’s entrance, in the form of a sit-in and blocked the ports, forbidding anyone to enter or leave, and insisting on the need to create employment opportunities for them in the oil drillers 41 and 06, while the detained workers think that they are victims of the employment file which they have nothing to do with it, urging Adrar (southern Algeria) governor to consider their case, because they are held in a hard manner, as if they were lab rats, and are prevented from traveling to their families.
Workers told Echorouk, in a phone contact with Echorouk on Wednesday, that local authorities ignore the resolution of the crisis in a radical way, while jobless youth escalated the severity of their protest on a daily basis, after their number grows from day to day, refusing to dialogue with officials of the company, who moved from Hassi Messaoud to the place, to see the workers and find out what happens to them, especially as the number of workers is associated with the doctors dates, and others who intend to take holidays with their families outside the country like Tunisia, as they prepared for the operation in advance and pay dues to the travel agencies.
