Karkaria is a danger on Algeria’s stability
The Association of Muslim Scholars Tuesday called on interior ministry and security forces to stop Karkaria’s partisans who have recently showed their rituals in the province of Mostaghanem.
The Association warned against the danger of Karkaria on Algeria’s security and stability. It proposed to set up a security committee headed by the interior minister to localize the strongholds of those groups.
“Those groups want to spread misleading ideas in order to hit the Algerian society’s identity and religion,” said the Association in a release.
It also criticized local authorities for keeping silent about Karkaria’s followers and their “suspicious” visits to Zawias (Islamic schools).
It believes that “foreign hands” are behind the spread of sects in Algeria. “This comes as Algeria’s people stood by the side of their government and security forces against any foreign interference in their domestic affairs.”
Pictures were posted on social media showing a group of men walking in a public street and wearing colourful clothes. They were considered similar to Karkaria’s followers in Morocco.
