Abdelmoumene Khalifa who is jailed in El Harrach in the capital asked to appear in court in accordance with legal procedures as his case has been postponed for many times, Echorouk has learnt.

Khalifa is in a bad psychological state and has become withdrawn. Because of that, judicial authorities asked to schedule his case as soon as possible while it has been postponed since June. Earlier, he was living in the UK before he had been extradited to Algeria.

According to the same sources, Khalifa is depressed as he has been jailed for more than 7 months while there is no legal restriction on his trial.

His lawyer Nacereddine Lazaer said any prisoner suffers from psychological pressures and depression.

He did not give any details about the case, saying the trial will be held as scheduled. “We trust justice.”

This comes as Algeria’s Supreme Court rejected an appeal made by Khalifa following a sentence made in March 2007.

The UK extradited Khalifa to Algeria on December 24th, 2013.
