The wife of Algeria’s billionaire Abdelmoumene Khalifa was at a court in Nanterre in Paris on Tuesday to attend his trial. She arrived at 9:30 am accompanied by bodyguards.

A few minutes later, the rest of the suspects arrived one by one. Amirouchane Nadia’s husband was absent as he is jailed in Algeria.

She looked worried but she said confidently: “when it is over in France, I will deal with the other part of the issue in Algiers.”

The judge started exposing the facts and the charges in presence of the ten suspects. Two hours passed and the suspects were worried. Each of them wanted to know about his fate after 11 years of legal procedures.

A suspect got to an 8-year-suspended prison sentence and 75,000 Euros fine. He was accused of being involved in corruption.

Another one received an 18-year-suspended prison sentence for bankruptcy and illegally selling a villa in Cannes. Amirouchane was acquitted.

The sentences will be given to ten other persons involved in 12 corruption and money laundry-related cases.

The court proved the involvement of Karim Ismail, a former official at Khalifa Bank. He got a 6-year-suspended prison sentence and 10,000Euros fine.

Hidrougue Sakina Taous was given an-8-year-suspended prison sentence and 10,000 Euros fine accused of exploiting Khalifa Airways’ money for personal purposes.

The judge said the case is complicated and has a political background. “It’s time to decide in it in a definitive way.”
