King Khaled: “Enough tears and blood in the 1990’s”

Popular singer Khaled called on Algerians to work for the development of the country. “Enough blood and destruction which we had experienced for ten years. Enough violence. I believe that what is happening in Algeria serves its enemies,” he told Echorouk.

Khaled said he was sorry for Algeria’s riots, adding that he is sure that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika will work on ending social problems.

“Fortunately, there are some men in power who work in favour of the country. Otherwise, the situation would have been different.”

He believes that anger over corruption and bureaucracy in the State’s institutions are behind riots. “The Algerian people have the right to claim their rights but in peaceful ways.”

He warned Algerians of falling in the trap of Algeria’s enemies. “The State should work to overcome the situation so that it would not be like what is happening in Tunisia.”
