Kiwi’s Price reaches 1,500 ZDZ; Pineapple is 2,000 ZDZ in Algerian wholesale markets
After a dearth in the local markets and shops, the imported tropical fruits are back in the last week, but this time at exorbitant prices that will make them accessible only to some Algerian families, as the price of kiwi, for example, reaches during Wednesday evening, in the wholesale market for vegetables and fruits in Chelghoum El Eid, Mila, (eastern Algeria), the price of 1,500 ZDZ per kilogram, which reduced the demand for it, and is no longer required but by some sweets makers, at a time when its price over the past year reached at the same period only 300 ZDZ in the wholesale market.
Price of “pineapple” also rose to around 2,000 ZDZ, which is the same price of coconut, and the retailers found themselves in an awkward, and sold the rest of their fruits at the current wholesale prices, as the prices rise to about 2,000 ZDZ per kilogram of kiwi, and more for the rest of the fruits, and even the problem of canned pineapple and other fruits noticed a 100% increase in the major areas.
