Lamamra: “Tunisia asked for advice and we don’t interfere in its internal affairs”
Algerian Foreign Affairs Minister, Ramtane Lamamra, has pointed out that Algeria seeks the well-being of neighbouring Tunisia and has no intention whatsoever of meddling in its domestic affairs.
In a statement made Tuesday to the National Radio, Mr Lamamra indicated that several Tunisian officials had recently come to Algeria to seek brotherly advice from President Abdellaziz Bouteflika on how best to defuse the political crisis now besetting Tunisia.
He further ruled out the idea of any Algerian mediation as such in the settlement of the Tunisian crisis stressing that it was up to the Tunisian people themselves to pool efforts in a bid to build a potent democracy in their own country.
Mr Lamamra also expressed satisfaction at the ongoing positive developments unfolding in Tunisia thanks to the launching of a fruitful national dialogue involving all political parties and movements.
Replying to another reporter’s question, MrRamtane Lamamra made it clear that he didn’t belong to any political party or movement and that his sole anchoring as he put it was “the motherland Algeria”.
