Gendarmerie leadership prepared, on the occasion of the New Year 2016 celebration which coincides with the school holidays period, a security plan that is based on intelligence work and doubling the number of motorcycles and cars patrols, and intensifying surveillance and checkpoints across the entrances to cities and major highways and transportation, including the railway and securing trains and passenger stations, mosques, tombs and slaughterhouses, as well as ensuring good traffic.

According to the statement of the Gendarmerie leadership, it prepared the New Year celebration and developed units to ensure the readiness of its members to provide security and public tranquillity for citizens, especially transport roads and the popular areas, particularly as the New Year coincides with the end of the school holidays, which notices large movement of citizens and important mobility of cars and passengers, both inside or outside cities and between provinces.
Gendarmerie leadership took a number of security measures and traffic arrangements through the development of programs and a preventive and deterrent plan, and its units that are scattered across the entire national territory will implement the new plan to ensure the work of all regional units, and units of the security of roads and units of intervention, as they will make sure on showing good performance through strengthen and doubling coordination.
These procedures take into consideration – according to the same statement- the security presence and deployment in the field, as well as securing the various tourist areas both in desert areas or inland and coastal areas, which are experiencing a significant presence of people, like public places, squares and tourist areas, and ensure the security of the roads and the conduct of traffic especially in the areas and roads that are experiencing traffic jams, whether in the urban or semi-urban areas that are located within the territory of the national gendarmerie.
Gendarmerie leadership asked the road users to respect traffic law and not to over-speed, in order to preserve their lives and not to resort to dangerous manoeuvres on the road in order to avoid accidents, especially in the provinces that are experiencing possible air fluctuations.
